Title: Queen Victoria Author: Holmes, Richard R. Place: London & Paris Publisher: Boussod, Valadon & Co. Date: 1897 Description: [4], ii, 200, [1] pp. + plates. With 23 photogravure full-page plates from paintings, including a color lithographed frontispiece portrait heightened with hand-coloring depicting a young Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales from a miniature by Robert Thorburn; plus illustrations within the text. (4to) 32x25 cm. (12½x9¾"), three-quarters brown morocco & cloth, spine tooled in gilt, raised bands, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. First Edition. The author was Head Librarian at Windsor Castle and was later given the status as Sir Richard Holmes. Lot Amendments Condition: Scuffing to joints and extremities, marginal darkening to cloth; ownership inscription to front flyleaf dated 1906, new endpapers, about very good. Item number: 253799
