TOMKINS, Peltro William (1759-1840, engraver). Book of Etchings from papers cut by... Lady Templeton, in the collection of Her Majesty. London, J.F.Tomkins, 1790, oblong 4°, engraved title and 12 mounted etched (?) proof plates on paper, coloured light blue, tipped onto larger plain paper backing sheets, all by P. Tomkins, original wrappers, the upper cover with engraved lettering (being a print from Tomkin's trade card). The presence of duty marks on the verso of most of the etchings would seem to support the supposition that they are proofs. An ordinary copy was sold by these rooms in July (part lot 351, 10 July 1992).
