Lot of 10 sixth and ninth plate occupational portraits of men, many posed with tools of their trades, including a boat caulker, butcher, fireman, and more: Sixth plate daguerreotype of a tinsmith wearing a jacket with numerous holes and tears and holding two brushes and a tin cup. Sixth plate ambrotype of a butcher brandishing a pair of carving tools and posed before an outdoor backdrop. Sixth plate daguerreotype of an upholster in shirt sleeves holding a tack hammer. Sixth plate daguerreotype of a fireman in uniform, identified from accompanying paper as "Harry Kline. . . / a member of Washington / engine No.5 in the year / of 1856," credited on velvet pad to McDonell & Co., Buffalo, New York. Ninth plate daguerreotype of a cobbler posed with a boot. Sixth plate daguerreotype of a master boat caulker wearing his top hat with his sleeves rolled up. He sits on a low stool with a caulking iron and mallet. Sixth plate ambrotype of a brick layer holding a trowel. Sixth plate ambrotype of a man in shirtsleeves, possibly a tanner, posed with what appears to be a display of leather swatches.
