Très rare figure en porcelaine blanche représentant une allégorie du Printemps ou Flore, Meissen, 1993 A very rare Meissen white allegorical figure of 'Spring' or Flora, 1993Modelled by Paul Scheurich standing by a tree-stump with flowers and holding flowers in her right hand, the oval base moulded with flowers and a recessed rim, incised signature 'Scheurich/ 32' to one side, 59cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised model number A.1242, impressed crossed swords mark and 'weiss', impressed Former's number 149 and date code for 1993FootnotesLiterature: Rafael 1995a, ill. 50.2 Exhibited: Meissen, Schauhalle der Staatlichen Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, Paul Scheurich 1883-1945 Porzellane für die Meissener Manufaktur, 21 September 1995-10 January 1996; Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 The figure was modelled in 1931 and delivered to the manufactory at the end of April 1932, which purchased it for RM 2,500. It was not produced in porcelain, initially because of the difficult economic situation and subsequently because Scheurich's relationship with the manufactory soured following the departure of Pfeiffer. In 1937, Wolfgang Müller von Baczko asked Scheurich to rework the figure and it was produced in porcelain in time for the Leipzig Autumn Fair in 1937. Only one sale in 1942 is recorded.
