TURBERVILLE, GEORGE. The Booke of Falconrie or Hawking...now newly reviued, corrected, and augmented...--The Noble Art of Venerie or Hunting, both London: Thomas Purfoot 1611, 2 vols. bound together as often, small 4to, early nineteenth-century diced russia, covers with gilt-tooled borders surrounding blank central panel, spine gilt in compartments, g.e., joints renewed, very slight scuffing to board edges, the second work lacking first blank leaf, corners of first two leaves restored, a few tiny marginal wormholes at beginning, small rust-hole to P3 in second work affecting 3 letters, first few leaves slightly soiled . Second Editions, title woodcuts and numerous large woodcuts of falcons, hounds, hunting scenes, etc., some full-page, including several repeats, 4 pages music at end. Three woodcuts (one repeated) which showed Queen Elizabeth in riding dress in the first edition were altered to depict James I for this edition. STC 24325 and 24329; Schwerdt II, 271-72.
