TWENTY-EIGHT IRON TSUBA Momoyama-Edo Period (16th-19th century) A round iron tsuba carved with pine branches and inlaid with a silver toad, signed Yasutoshi or Moritoshi , 8cm; a mokkogata Heianjo tsuba in brass, inlaid with Ho-o birds, 8.5cm; a round brass tsuba inlaid with kiku and tendrils, Heianjo school, 8.6cm; an oval iron sukashi tsuba formed as a plant signed Bushu ju Masatsune , 7.5cm; a thick round iron tsuba inlaid in shakudo takazogan with a cow, a boy and a basket of flowers, signed Kunihiro , 8.3cm; a large mokkogata iron tsuba , the tsuchimeji plate inlaid with tigers, inscribed with the full Kaneie signature, 10.4cm; a kaku-mokkogata iron tsuba , the indented tsuchimeji plate lightly carved with dragons, the corners turned in, with signature Nobuie , 9cm; and twenty-one others, various sizes (28)
