Little definitive information about the secretive Chinese Space Program was available before these American visits. The first was a 19-person delegation led by a communications satellite executive and the Executive Secretary of the Astronautics Institute. They were allowed to meet with their counterparts and tour space research facilities, academic institutions, government agencies and scientific laboratories. The second AIAA delegation primarily visited aviation and aerodynamics facilities. There was some overlap with research on rocket propulsion and guidance and control of satellites and missiles for the Chinese Space program. These books record the tours in great detail.
