Two American transit theodolites, one signed on the silvered compass KEUFFLER & ESSER Co NEW YORK , the telescope with ray shade and rack and pinion focusing to the objective lens mount, and bubble level, with silvered vertical circle with vernier scale, and clamp, on two A frame supports over the glazed silvered compass with blued steel edge bar needle and jewel cap and degree scale around the circumference, the horizontal circle stamped 20569 , with two bubble levels and clamp and two folding ivorine shades covering the glazed windows through which are visible the silvered degree scale and verniers, with three adjustable screw feet and tripod mounting, contained in the original fitted mahogany carrying case with maker's plaque and leather strap -- 10¼in. (26cm.) high , and the accompanying telescopic wooden tripod; the other signed W. & L.E. Gurley, Troy, N.Y. and S.T. THAXTER & SON BOSTON, MASS. , the telescope with objective lens cap, rack and pinion adjustment to the objective and the eyepiece and bubble level, held in two A frame supports with clamp over the glazed silvered compass with blued steel edge bar needle with jewelled cap, degree scale, and 40°-0-40° scale with vernier, adjustable by rack and pinion, the horizontal circle with two bubble levels and clamp and two glazed windows with ivorine shades showing the silvered degree scale and verniers, with three adjustable screw feet and tripod mounting -- 9½in.
