TWO FINELY-DETAILED WATERLINE MODELS OF H.M.SHIPS REPULSE AND NESTOR BY NORMAN OUGH
TWO FINELY-DETAILED WATERLINE MODELS OF H.M.SHIPS REPULSE AND NESTOR BY NORMAN OUGH Repulse scaled at 1in.=100ft. and depicted flying the flag of Vice- Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey conveying H.R.H. the Prince of Wales to Africa and South America in 1925; Nestor scaled at 1in.=32ft., each mounted on a raised plinth with details, battle honours and motto, and sealed within glazed wooden display cases (later) , and signed by Ough on the base, the Repulse further inscribed: This model was made at Dawlish Down in 1925. It was exhibited at H.M. Govt. Pavilion at the British Empire Exhibition, 1925 and was for 28 years at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter. Norman A. Ough, maker 1925 ; together with a framed letter from Lord Mountbatten to Bernard Ough (brother) regarding a model, and dated 2 n d August, 1979; and a quantity of ephemera relating to Ough including press clippings, photographs, a postcard, four model plans for R.N. ships, and his business card.
