TWO-FISTED TALES No. 28 Author: Place: Publisher: Entertaining Comics Date: August, 1952 Description: F/VF (7.0). Flat, clean mag kept from NM grade by three flaws: staple rust; cover miscut; tiny, nicked bump bottom corner. Tan to cream pages. Harvey Kurtzman cover. Art by Davis, Wood, Severin, Severin/Elder. Kurtzman biography: "...Genial, modest, tireless, hard-working, rapidly-risen star of the comic industry.... Harvey's editing, writing, covers, and lay-outs brought a fresh, new approach to comics, and other publishers quickly began to copy (even TRACE, in many instances!) his unique presentation." Mine blows up, wounded men fly. The airborne wounded are superimposed over the logo, a Kurtzman touch eschewed by Feldstein, in whose designs the text almost always stood inviolate. In contrast to Feldstein's logocentricity, Kurtzman preferred a more integrative approach to words and pictures. PBA Grading Guarantee: Any individual comic book lot (not group lots) graded by PBA is guaranteed to match CGC grading. If the buyer chooses to have the comic CGC certified and that certification is lower than PBA’s, the lot may be returned for a full refund of the sales price (hammer price plus buyer’s premium). See terms and conditions for details. Consignments Accepted for PBA's Next Comic Book Auction. Golden Age, Silver Age, Pre-Code, Original Art, Interesting Ephemera Sought.
