Late Qing dynasty The larger, of faded red satin possibly made as a chair cover featuring a roundel of the Three Stars of Happiness in polychrome silk threads with some details in couched gilt threads that also combine the shaded blue and white threads used in the surrounding floral decoration, framed and glazed (fading, staining); the second, a small rectangular panel depicting a scholar and his servant in a garden setting picked out in satin knotted stitches against a ground formed gilt wrapped threads couched in vertical rows, the panel bordered with silk brocade then framed and glazed (fading, soiling). 64 1/2 x 21 3/4in (164 x 55cm) and 27 x 19in (68.5 x 48cm) [frames]
