Each approx. 110 pp., with about 100 pp. in the first book containing five autograph signatures each with the address of the signer and date, and about 64 pages in the second book filled out in the same fashion. Matching “Guest Books” produced by the Dodge Publishing Co. of New York. (oblong 4to) 19x28 cm (7½x11”), cloth, expertly rebacked. Housed in a handsome full morocco folding box. Remarkable pair of Hollywood guest books from the 1920’s and into the ‘30’s, with signatures of many luminaries who stopped by to purchase craft and film supplies, attended exhibits, etc. The first book has signatures dated from July 18 1921 to May 5, 1922, with business then apparently slowing up, with the second book dating from May 6, 1922 to Dec. 4, 1931. Among the 800 or so who left their autographs are Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Jean Hersholt, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Gloria Swanson, Lon Chaney, Noah Beery, Hugh Lofting Fannie Hurst, John Barrymore, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Dorothy Devore, Richard Halliburton, Rudolph Valentino, Cyril Hume, Dashiell Hammett, Cornell Woolrich, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Lot Amendments Condition: Modest amounts of wear, mostly to corners of the covers; very good or better. Item number: 273135
