TWO JADE AXES, SHANG DYNASTY AND LATER (1600-1100BC) a deep green jade axe, with very minor alteration to the stone, of squared form with four raised notches to the sides of the flattened blade, the corners of the sharpened blade edge have been rounded off, large round aperture to the body, fitted box; a heavily altered pale jade axe of similar form, fitted box; and a long deep green blade, heavy alteration to the centre of the blade, the angled blade edge to the longest side with four large drill holes to the opposing side, fitted box -- the first, 4 7/8in. (12.3cm.) wide. (3)
