♡ TWO JAPANESE LACQUER INRO EDO PERIOD (1603-1867) The first a striking four case design of Sanskrit characters in red and black lacquer with accompanying netsuke of a mokugyo (temple bell); the second a four case inro on a dark ground and polychrome lacquers depicting a cockerel standing on a barrel and hen and chick on verso; the stag horn netsuke of a hermit walking a staff. The inros 9cm x 5cm & 9cm x 4.5cm PROVENANCE: A Private Collection of Inro and Japanese accessories. Estimate $1,200-1,500 Condition: The first with minor rubbing and dents overall, scratches to reverse on second case The second minor rubbing overall, and loss of vibrancy to original colour.
