Two letters by Rabbi Moshe Guttman, to the management of "Torat Chaim" Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Brisk of Lithuania, Cheshvan 1923; Av 1925. In the first letter the writer advises how to request from the Ga'avad [Rabbi Yitzchak Ze'ev Soloveitchik, who was appointed at that time Rabbi of Brisk] to head the committee for the yeshiva's benefit, to be his father, Rabbi Chaim's successor: "Write to him and request that he head and preside over the committee like his father and that he sign letters and write as necessary. And I note that I saw a letter sent to him and they should have written with the titles of honor also Pe'er Hador since this is the customג€¦". In the second letter he writes to them that "when they send the letter to the Ga'avad, they should also send a letter to Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky in Vilna and request that he act to benefit the yeshiva". Rabbi Moshe Guttman (1866-1933), a dayan of the city of Brisk, trustworthy assistant of Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, who in 1896 brought him from the city of Orla to serve in the Brisk Beit Din and manage the committee that supervises the Torat Chaim Yeshiva in Jerusalem. 20 emissaries were sent under his administration throughout Russia to collect money for the yeshiva. After his exile during World War I, he returned to Brisk and attempted to renew the collections for the "Torat Chaim" Yeshiva as reflected by these letters. Two page letter, approx. 28 cm + a 3 page letter 20 cm + envelope with postage stamp from 1923. Good condition, stains and minor creases.
