TWO RHINOCEROS HORN CARVINGS WITH A LARGE WOOD STAND Katalognummer: AK0518-158 Rhinoceros horn and wood China Qing dynasty The first and larger rhinoceros horn carving in the form of an openwork full tip libation cup missing the top cup section, with vines and flowers delicately carved and arranged in openwork. The horn is of a caramel tone, almost semi-translucent at the tip – 19th century. The second and earlier rhinoceros horn carving of a similar caramel tone, depicting two immortals amongst lotus buds and blossoms with lingzhi on the side. Both carvings have been fitted to a large and impressive wood stand in the form of a large rock with lingzhi and pine trees. Dimensions: HEIGHT (overall) 56 CM, LENGTH (overall) 52 CM, HEIGHT of the larger horn 31 CM, HEIGHT of the smaller carving 14.5 CM Condition: The larger horn with small losses to the top and some smaller repairs. Missing the top section of the cup. The smaller carving with small nicks and scratches, the stand with small losses - all generally in good condition commensurate with age Provenance: From a German private collection A similar, larger full-tip libation cup was sold at Sotheby’s 18th March 2008, lot 205 Startpreis 起始價: € 6.000 Schätzpreis 估計/估算: € 12.000
