TWO RUSSIAN SILVER CIGARETTE-CASES, A SILVER-MOUNTED OSTRICH EGG CUP AND A SILVER-PLATE MOUNTED OSTRICH EGG One cigarette-case with mark of I.P.S, St Petersburg, 1896; the other with mark of KS, St Petersburg, 1899-1908; the silver-mounted ostrich egg with mark of Frederick Bradford McCrea, London, 1897 The first cigarette-case oblong, with match compartment and exterior striker, the body chased and engraved with scallop and wave patterns, stylised flowers and drapery, and engraved with facsimile signatures, the cover applied with a gilt Cyrillic monogram, the interior of the cover engraved with further facsimile signatures, with second interior cover engraved with a Russian inscription, with red plaited tinder-cord and silver chain with ball terminal, marked inside base and interior and exterior covers ; the second, oblong, of oval section, with pierced casing for tinder-cord, the cover applied with gilt Cyrillic lettering for Pavlinchik , a match compartment with inset striker in the base, engraved with textured waves, scrolling foliage and flowers, with gitl thumbpiece with blue cabochon inset, with detachable chain with pierced terminal set marked inside base and cover with a cabochon sapphire, and pale red and white tinder-cord; the silver-mounted egg, formed as a cup with plated interior fitting with scalloped rim, on silver stem formed as three realistic textured ostrich legs and feet, the base chased with foliage on a textured ground, mounted on a black wooden plinth, marked on lower border , the second egg held within a silver-plated cagework holder and mounted with a plated ostrich finial the first cigarette-case: 4¼ in. (11 cm.) long; the second: cigarette-case: 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) long ; the silver-mounted egg: 9 1/8 in. (23 cm.) high gross: 17 oz. (559 gr.) The translation of the inscription of the first cigarette-case reads, To deeply respected Aleksei Iakovlevich Boroshenko from his respectful co-workers . (4)
