TYNDALE, William (d. 1536). The Whole Workes of W. Tyndall, Iohn Frith and Doct. Barnes. Edited by John Foxe (1516-1587). London: John Daye, 1573-72. First and only edition of this collection including the works of the English reformers : William Tyndale and John Frith (1503-1533), Robert Barnes (c.1495-1540). All three were leading figures in Protestant reform in the years leading up to their execution. 3 parts in one volume, folio (284 x 186 mm). Black letter and roman type in double column. Title and two sectional titles with repeated woodcut border [McKerrow & Ferguson 76]. Half page woodcut illustrations on A4 of part one, and on the first and last leaf of part three, woodcut historiated and floriated initials, typographical ornaments. B4 in part one, HH1 in part two and AAa1 in part three cancelled. (Some minor marginal darkening, a few leaves with tears, two with blank corner torn away, EE5 torn.) Contemporary blind tooled-calf (rebacked, endpapers renewed, some wear to spine ends and corners). Provenance : A few leaves with scant early marginalia (“W. Cawdry, A boke of Tyndall” on page 291 possibly an ownership inscription). STC 24436.
