.45 ACP caliber, 4.25" barrel, S/N 687-LW. Blue finish, Coltwood grips. Frame marked with crossed cannons and ordnance wheel cartouche. Factory letter states pistol was shipped to "The Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts, August 31,1950" Condition: Excellent condition with an excellent bore. The pistol is near-new condition showing almost no visible wear. There is a small ding on the bottom of the magazine well and the magazine where the pistol has been dropped. This gun was a test pistol for the military as they were searching for a light weight pilot survival pistol. This is an interesting piece worthy of further research and definitely for the advanced 1911 collector.
