1161 UTAGAWA HIROSHIGE (Japanese, 1797-1858) "The Weir in the Shallows at Yanase in Chikugo Province," ca.1853-56 from "Famous Views of the Sixty Odd Provinces (Rokujuyoshu meisho zue)" and "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido: Kameyama (no.47)," 1855; Two oban tate-e woodblocks in colors (framed separately); Both Hiroshige hitsu with aratame, date, and publisher seals; Larger: 14" x 9" (sight) "The Wier in the Shallows at Yanase in Chikugo Province" published by Koshimura-e; "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido: Kameyama (no. 47) published by Tsutaya. Overall toning and few spots of minor soiling to both. "The Weir in the Shallows at Yanase in Chikugo Province" with pigment bleeding at lower left corner and buckling to sheet in mat, particularly along upper edge. "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido: Kameyama (no. 47)" with possible oxidation and loss to pigments. Both not examined out of frames.
