Author: More, Thomas Place: London Publisher: Ashendene Press Date: 1906 Description: 161, [1] pp. Printed in red & black. 28.5x20 cm (11¼x8"), linen-backed blue boards. One of 100 copies on paper, printed by St John Hornby with the help of Meysey Turton & G. Faulkner, at the Ashendene Press. One of the most sought-after of Ashendene imprints, this is a rare Presentation copy inscribed on the front free endpaper to John Galsworthy by the printer Charles Harold St John Hornby, signed with his initials, dated 25 Oct. 1907. With Galsworthy's bookplate on the verso of the front free endpaper, and the small bookplate of George Abrams on the front pastedown. Hornby is known to have inscribed several works to Galsworthy. Pencil access mark to front flyleaf, otherwise without markings. Lot Amendments Condition: Some staining to boards and foot of spine; internally a superb and fresh copy. Item number: 283409
