VERDI, Giuseppe (1813-1901). Autograph letter signed to Francesco Lucca, Venice, 20 March 1845, 1 page, octavo, with integral address panel on the verso , (very minor foxing) The letter refers to an album of Verdi's songs, Sei Romanze , which Lucca published sometime in 1845. The composer writes Mi ritengo addunque obbligato fino come dal compromesso e farò le sei Romanze a' prezzo fissato . Verdi was in Venice at this time as Giovanna d'Arco was about to be given at La Fenice. The letter also indicates that the publication of the songs must have been later than 20 March. Letters to Lucca referring to Verdi's songs are rare. Apparently unpublished.
