Of superb quality throughout, by England's premier gunmaker. Heavy octagonal barrels with silver foresight, are inlaid in gold with the maker's name, "Manton". Single gold band at breech, gold inlaid touch-holes. Rear sight integral with breech. The tang masterfully engraved with trophy of arms. Signed bolted locks with elaborately engraved borders, engraved French cocks, cock screws, top jaws. The triggerguard engraved with a trophy of arms and border decoration en suite with the locks. Serial number "4203" in an oval reserve. The superbly checkered butt of finely figured English walnut. A virtual identical pistol is pictured on the dust jacket of the definitive work on the subject, The Mantons: Gunmakers, 1967 by W.Keith Neal and D.H.L. Back. This magnificent flintlock pistol will be a centerpiece in any collection of flintlock pistols.
