VICTORIAN VALENTINES IN A SCRAP ALBUM A collection of valentine cards in a scrap album, including a movable hand-coloured gentleman, stamp marked Mansell , pulling the tab activates his arm and makes his neck stretch out, with verse underneath 'Good morning Sir,- This from a friend/Comes hopping-as it leaves me at present./I take this opportunity some advice to send,/Which I hope will be agreable and pleasant./I think that you are rather starched and stuck up/In your manners - pray don't be offended,/In your manners pray don't be offended,/But let me beg that you'll your courage pluck up/And strive to let your faults be somewhat mended' - 5 x 6¾in. ; two shaped embossed and pierced valentine cards, stamp marked Dobbs , both with hand-coloured details, and hand-written messages The foundtain of happiness! and A Token of Remembrance! - 5in. high, circa 1850 ; and other valentines, greetings cards and scraps (2)
