VOLTAIRE, François Marie Arouet (1694-1778)]. La Pucelle d'Orléans, poëme héroï-comique en dix-huit chants . London [but Geneva: Cazin], 1780. 18° (118 x 75 mm). Text printed on light blue paper, engraved frontispiece, engraved portrait of Jeanne d'Arc and 18 engraved plates. (Spotting, heavier on plate margins.) Contemporary red morocco, gilt spine, gilt edges (some stains, extremities lightly rubbed, corners bumped). A famous parody of the life of Joan d'Arc which was occasionally illustrated with erotique or risqué plates as in this copy. Pia Enfer, 1193; Cohen-de-Ricci 1032 (1777 edition). With François-Félix Nogaret L'Aretin François par un membre de l'Academie des Dames (London, 1787). (2)
