Gage 8th Bart" [afterwards Rokewode Gage], nephew of the antiquary John Gage Rokewode, from whom he inherited the Hengrave Hall estates, comprising autograph letters etc., mostly to Gage and annotated throughout by him, largely by antiquarians, Suffolk dignitaries and members of the French aristocracy, including autograph letters etc by Sir Walter Scott Thomas Moore (to Lady Shrewsbury and passed on by her to Gage, sending her a snippet of Byron: "[I] enclose some autographs of my own, and likewise one of Byron's, which it cost me some time and trouble to find, as from his habit of generally filling the whole sheet of paper it is almost impossible to find a scrap which can be cut out without damaging the whole letter"), Lord Braybrooke, Samuel Tymms (on Suffolk barrows), Sir Henry Ellis of the British Museum (on the death of his "kind and esteemed friend" Gage Rokewode and discussing posthumous publication of his Account of the Painted Chamber in the Royal Palace at Westminster), Sir George Nayler (inviting him to the coronation of William IV) and others; with souvenirs of Sir Thomas's grand tour of Italy, the Papal States, Greece and Constantinople in the 1830s, including two tickets to the Acropolis, his Papal States passport (styling him "Tom[as]o Gage Beiront", 1831), and two Turkish firmans of 1835 (one from the Sultan); plus letters and notices of election to the Society of Antiquaries, the Camden Society, Zoological Society, Norfolk & Norwich Archaeological Society, Travellers' Club, the Catch Club, Royal Botanic Society, etc., and a ticket to Wellington's funeral, half-morocco, marbled boards, spine stamped 'Letters', 4to, 1835-49
