Bagster's second edition. The illustrations include the reproduction of the title-page cartouche and the small text engravings from the first edition. Horne 21. [DEFOE, Daniel] Memoirs of Capt. George Carelton ... written by himself , Edinburgh: James Ballantyne for Archibald Constable and J. Murray London, 1808. 8°, half title (title and preliminaries spotted, page edges browned), contemporary straight-grained half morocco (rubbed and slightly scuffed), t.e.g., others uncut. Provenance : David Laing inscription to front free endpaper. LARGE PAPER COPY. BYRON, George Gordon Lord. Child Harold's Pilgrimage. A romaunt , London: John Murray 1841. 4°, engraved portrait frontispiece, additional title and 62 illustrations by W. Finden on India paper, mounted (heavy spotting and some staining), contemporary blue straight-grained morocco by Riviere, gilt corner ornaments and double line border to sides, the back gilt-lettered and richly-tooled (lower board edges rubbed), marbled endpapers, g.e. COLLINS, William. The Poetical Works , London: William Pickering, 1827. 8°, half title, full crushed red morocco gilt by W. Pratt central armorial and elaborate corner-pieces within single line rule, spine in 6 compartments with raised bands, lettered in two, the rest with all over gilt-tooling (one corner slightly bumped), t.e.g., others uncut. With 44 other volumes, all published in the 19th century and bound in leather, including other fine reprints of celebrated works. (48)
