WANG JINGWEI (1883-1944), WANG WENXING (1914-2015) AND HO MANG HANG (1916-2016) Leading a Donkey Two round fan leaves mounted as hanging scroll, ink and colour on silk/ink on gold-flecked silk Each leaf measures 25.1 cm. (9 7/8 in.) in diameter Inscribed with a poem and signed by Wang Jingwei, with one seal Dated winter, renwu year (1942) Dedicated to Bingru (Chen Bijun, 1891-1959) NOTE: As stated in the inscription, Wang Wenxing painted the figure with the donkey while Ho Mang Hang added the background. This was made as a present for Chen Bijun which references the 30th year of her marriage to Wang Jingwei. The poem inscribed here, titled Inscription for My Child ’ s Painting Leading a Donkey is included in the collection of Shuangzhaolou shicigao .
