watercoloured paintings, from a collection of zhŏng shīchuán de zhōnghuá mínsu (kinds of lost Chinese folk customs)] [China, 19th c.] Coloured on paper, x 32,4 cm, each painting with funny explanations describing the varied life on a market (nicely executed drawings with bright colours; good condition; light yellowing due to age, tears on edges of pages, stains, worm hole on upper right corner on some pages: bigger on pages on following pages reduced in size; paper of book cover with surface abrasion, blotches and damaged lining). Sewn in four-hole binding book Noble woman burning incense, Knife grinder, Selling cicadas in cages, Showman showing that he is able to lift heavy stone pieces, Manufacture of bamboo mats, Paper making with a glass pane, Actors with masks, Clothes seller, Seller of pots and pans, Basket seller, Bagger with handicap, Bank or money change, Paper lantern seller, Donkey ride service, Beggar with trained dog playing on an instrument, Hair dresser, ready to cut a bald head.
