WELDON, JOAN A large archive of headshots and publicity photographs. A large group of approximately 400 photographs and a few printed items being mostly 8 x 10 inch copy prints of headshots of Joan Weldon and production photographs taken in the 1950s, '60s and later. The group includes nine differing headshots in varying depths of duplication (from a single copy to about 140 copies of a single image); a few photographs relating to the cult classic Them! (1954) and 12 copies of a color photograph of a poster for Atomische Duivels with Weldon's facsimile signature (this a foreign verson of Them! ), a production still from The System (1953), a few photographs at events, and various playbills and programs including The Music Man and The Playgoer , etc. some minor curling of images or toned edges, an occasional crease, the playbills lightly handled, sold as is. A fine group of portraits and related items highlighting the career of the American actress Joan Weldon (1930-2021), who had a major influence in the musical theater of the 1950s with stage credits including the role of Marian the Librarian in the original national tour of The Music Man , the role of Natalie in the Lincoln Center revival of The Merry Widow in 1964, and on Broadway as Countess Elena De Koeberg alongside Alfred Drake in Kean in 1961. Television credits included episodes of Perry Mason and The Millionaire along with several westerns such as Have Gun - Will Travel , Colt .45 , and Maverick . Films included The System in 1953, the Sci-Fi cult classic Them! in 1954, and Westerns The Stranger Wore a Gun , The Command with Guy Madison , and Riding Shotgun . Weldon retired from acting in 1980. C
