Provenance : Alexander Young (presentation copy inscribed by the author and with a few corrections in the author's hand). FIRST EDITION. Norman 2198. - William WELLS An essay on dew and several appearances connected with it . London: W. Calvert for Taylor and Hessey, 1814. 8 o (225 x 142 mm). (Some foxing to title page and endpapers). Contemporary quarter calf, gilt spine, UNCUT. Provenance : Richard Moulson (inscription); Halifax Literary and Philosophical Society's Library (bookplates). FIRST EDITION. Wells was awarded the Rumford Medal of the Royal Society for this essay, which marked an important step in the development of the science of ventilation. Garrison-Morton 1604; Norman 2199. -- WELLS.
