Illustrations throughout from photographs of sculpture and prints by Ernst Barlach (Small folio) original brown and blue cloth, plain card slipcases. Nos. 567 & 597 of unspecified limitations. First Editions. Ernst Barlach (1870–1938) was a German expressionist sculptor, printmaker and writer. Although he was a supporter of the war in the years leading to World War I, however his participation in the war made him change his position. He is best known for his sculptures in protest of the war. During the rise of the Nazi Party many of his works were confiscated as degenerate art. Lot Amendments Condition: Light wear; near fine.
