Estimate
US$350 - US$550

Beschreibung:

An unusual necklace in that it incorporates rarely seen white turquoise beads from Nevada. White turquoise is actually a mixture of quartz, calcite and alunite with a trace of turquoise to it. Originally discovered in the Dry Creek Mine in the Shoshone Indian Reservation near Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1993 no further deposits have been found since. Normally turquoise obtains its color from the heavy metals in the ground where it form. For instance, blue turquoise borms where there is copper present (most Arizona turquoise falls into this category); green turquoise forms where there is iron present (as with most Nevada turquoise); and white turquoise forms where there no heavy metals present. This attractive necklace comprises five large oval polished beads of Nevada white turquoise, alternating with bright blue Chinese turquoise rondels and irregular beads formed of bright red Mediterranean coral, completed by a Nepalese coral and turquoise set clasp possessing a secret locket compartment, length 18in.
