Contemporary green morocco, sides with red morocco onlays forming the borders of rectangular gilt central panel, gilt spine compartments with red onlays forming stylised flower petals (spine bands and corners a little rubbed, slight crack to upper joint), g.e. Provenace : Reginald Roose Francis (bookplate dated 1931). First published in 1875. According to the title page, this "revised and abridged edition" contains three hundred and forty-five engravings on wood designed by the most celebrated artists." WILSON, Richard. Modern boards. (The first plate soiled, most plates spotted at margins.) Richard Wilson (1713-82) stayed in Italy from 1750-56/57, spending most of that period in Rome. (3)
