Baynes, on India paper, mounted. (Title soiled, long repaired tear to margin of descriptive text to plate IV, upper margin of plate showing the Temple of Nerva slightly stained and with small nick to left hand edge. A few plates slightly crinkled at margin.) Modern calf-backed boards. FIRST EDITION. Abbey Travel 182. WEY, Francis. Rome ... new edition. London: J. S. Virtue, [1880]. 4° (338 x 243mm). Wood-engraved plates and illustrations. Contemporary green morocco, sides with red morocco onlays forming the borders of rectangular gilt central panel, gilt spine compartments with red onlays forming stylised flower petals (spine bands and corners a little rubbed, slight crack to upper joint), g.e. Provenace : Reginald Roose Francis (bookplate dated 1931). First published in 1875. According to the title page, this "revised and abridged edition" contains three hundred and forty-five engravings on wood designed by the most celebrated artists." WILSON, Richard. A suite of 12 engraved views of classical ruins after Wilson ("Strada Nomentana", "Bridge of Augustus at Rimini", "Temple of Peace", "Circus of Caracalla" etc.), published London: by John Boydell 1776, small oblong 4° (228 x 308mm). Modern boards. (The first plate soiled, most plates spotted at margins.) Richard Wilson (1713-82) stayed in Italy from 1750-56/57, spending most of that period in Rome. (3)
