Bockholt was the commander of the Airship L59 who organized the daring flight of a configured Zeppelin to fly to German East Africa to bring badly needed supplies to the troops of von Lettow-Vorbeck who fought the occupying British troops in a Guerilla war from the 1914-18 with no supply.
