FIRST EDITION, engraved vignette on title, 14 vignettes, 4 of them in aquatint; 73 plates and plans, 21 in sepia aquatint, one plate folding. Blackmer Catalogue 1797; Abbey Travel 128. "In 1801 Wilkins started on a four-year tour of Greece, Italy and Asia Minor. On his return he introduced accurate Greek forms and building details into English architectural practice."--Blackmer.
