Lot of 5 including two manuscript books/ledgers, a Leavitt & Allen Souvenir Album, a Victorian-Era scrapbook, and a Cabinet Card identified as Mary Denver Linley . Manuscript notebook/ledger with marbled-paper cover and leather spine, 7.75 x 12.5 in. Contents of the notebook document the Sale bill of the goods and of the Estate of Jane Denver Deceased dated January 5, 1875, as well as transactions dating from 1875-1878 related to the Estate of Patrick Denver deceased.... Manuscript notebook/ledger with marbled-paper cover and leather spine, 7.75 x 12.5 in. Interior cover identifies the ledger as Samuel Johns Ledger March 5th 1834 Wilmington Clinton. Address book style alphabetical letters are stamped on first pages of notebook, and individual names are included on those pages alphabetically according to last name. Contents of the book thereafter are individuals names listed with purchases and purchase price, dating from early 1840s through early 1860s. Samuel Johns (1812-1881) was a prominent businessman in the Wilmington, OH, area and was married to Elizabeth Denver Johns (1819-1901) whose name appears on the back cover of this notebook. Autograph album belonging to Miss Eugenia J. Smith Embossed The Souvenir Album on the front cover, stamped inside front cover Miss Eugenia J. Smith measuring 7 x 8.5 in. Published by Leavitt & Allen of New York, ca late 1860s, with messages inscribed from 1870 through 1883. Featuring five beautiful, color engravings inside along with the sentiments of those individuals asked by Miss Smith to autograph her book. Beautifully embossed Victorian-Era scrapbook with period die cuts and advertisements. Initials "E. J. S." pasted to inside cover are presumed to be those of Eugenia J. Smith owner of the autograph book included in this lot. Cabinet Card from Slack & Berry photographers in Wilmington, OH, with pencilled name on back Mary (Louise) Denver Lindley (1871-1942), sister to famous Wilmington resident and U.S. Congressman Matthew R. Denver and daughter of Territorial Governor of Virginia and Civil War General James W. Denver. Provenance:Property from the Collection of Dr. M. Donald Hayes. To Be Sold Without Reserve. Condition: Expected wear and soil on books but all remain intact and easily legible. Left side of Cabinet Card has some creasing.
