(9 1/4 x 5 5/8in.) and Atlas of plates, folio, 378 x 298mm. (14 7/8 x 11 3/4in.), contemporary diced half russia gilt and marbled boards, extremities worn, text vols. foxed, occasional very slight foxing or spotting to plates, printer's or binder's crease to plate 63. First revised edition of the whole work (Ord revised vols. 7-9 of the first edition: see preceding lot), 76 hand-colored engraved plates by A. Lawson, G. Murray, B. Tanner and J.G. Warnicke after Wilson's drawings. Ayer/Zimmer, p. 681; Copenhagen/Anker 533 note; Fine Bird Books , p. 114; McGill/Wood, p. 630; Nissen IVB 992; Sabin 104598 note. The coloring is vastly superior to that of the first edition, due to a combination of better pigments and paper stock. Provenance : E.A. Wadsworth, Geneseo, New York, bookplates. (4)
