.45-90 caliber, 26" octagonal barrel, full magazine, serial number 139382. Top of barrel with standard Winchester markings between rear barrel and front sight. Top of barrel behind rear sight elevator PW proof marked 45-90 WCF. Winchester logo and Model 1886 marked on upper tang. Fancy 2X checkered forearm, checkered straight grip and shotgun buttstock. Steel shotgun buttplate. Serial number on lower tang along with patent markings. Accompanying this rifle is a factory letter stating The Winchester Model 1886 serial number records list number 139382 as a rifle, caliber 45-90, octagonal barrel, fancy checked stock, shotgun butt. Lyman Jack front sight. It was shipped from the factory on June 6, 1907, no other information or description is listed. Buttstock was taken off and the numbers match on buttstock and tang of receiver, as well as 2X markings in both places. Please see Cowan's website for more details. Provenance: Ex. Clarence R. Hunter Condition: Barrel retains ca 97% bright blue finish. Two small scuffs on right side of barrel just forward of the forend cap. Top of rear barrel sight with ca 99% of the original blued finish. Lyman Jack front sight with all of the original blue finish. Magazine tube retaining ca 95% of the original blued finish. Magazine tube shows a couple of scratches from being taken down. Front takedown lever retains ca 98% of the original blue finish. Forend cap with ca 98% original blue finish. Takedown ring on rear of barrel retains ca 98% of the original blued finish. Receiver retaining ca 98% of the original blue finish. A nominal scratch on right side of receiver just in front of the loading gate. Two very light scratches in blue finish on left side of receiver. Bottom tang has ca 98% original blue finish with nominal scar from the lever rubbing against it. Upper tang has two little light flaking spots around the Winchester trademarks. Lever retaining ca 98% of original case hardened colors. Bottom of lever tuning a lighter color. Buttstock and forearm retaining most of the original varnish. Left side of forearm has some scratches and bruising on the left forearm near the forearm tip. Right side of forearm has a light bruise at the forearm tip. Oil finish is slightly darkening at forearm tip. Buttstock has some light scratches. Bore is in mint condition. Mechanically functional. A fantastic Model 1886 rifle.
