Lot of 7 Civil War documents including: a framed 16 x 11 in. promotion for Srgt. John Rohde of the 5th and 7th U.S. Inf. signed by Capt. J. Lepengraff (?) and 1st Lt. Samuel Aushine(?) and a 1 p. TL from the Treasury Department denying a request for back pay for Rohde; 1 p. muster roll dated March 20, 1864 from adj. gen. Gaylord to Joseph Lawe of the 12th WI Vol. Inf.; 1 p. volunteer enlistment for the 31st WI Vol. Inf. for 18 year-old Joseph E. O'Neall dated November 4, 1862 which is also signed by his mother; 1 p. volunteer enlistment for Thomas Blanchard dated October 1862 for the 31st WI Vol. Inf.; and another 31st WI Vol. Inf. volunteer enlistment form for 18 year-old Richard Barnes also signed by his father, William Barnes dated November 1862. Srgt. John Rohde enlisted as a private on August 13, 1852 and discharged in 1857. He reenlisted January 3, 1858 and discharged again November 3, 1862. He reenlisted again that same year and discharged November 1865. The 31st WI Vol. Inf. organized at Prairie du Chien and ordered to go to Camp Utely. They patrolled the Nashville-Chattanooga railroad and fought in the battle of Nashville, Atlanta, and Savannah. Pvt. Richard Barns was wounded at Cold Harbor, VA on June 1, 1864 and discharged for a disability February 20, 1865. The regiment mustard out of Louisville, June 20, 1865. Condition: Typical folds on all the letters and browning on the TL for Rohde.
