The whole Art of Marbling as applied to Paper Book-Edges etc. Containing a full description of the mature and properties of the materials used, the method of preparing them, and of executing every kind of marbling in use at the present time, with numerous illustrations and examples. London (George Bell and Sons) 1881. 8:o. (7), 8-82 pp. 34 full-page specimens of marbled paper + 27 smaller specimens mounted on five leaves, and 1 leaf facsimile (of a letter from Michael Faraday), and other illustrations in text. Publisher's green cloth, slightly worn. The final edition of Woolnough's classic work. The first edition, entitled "The art of marbling", appeared in 1853. The present final edition is somewhat enlarged and revised. A facsimile edition was published in 1985. "One of the prime events in the entire history of marbling" Richard J. Wolfe in "Marbled paper.
