WORLD WAR II, HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI. A large group of approximately 1300 items including typed letters signed, photographs (signed and unsigned), documents, etc., all relating to the members of the Army Air Corps crew of the Enola Gay and Bock's Car which carried out the first atomic bombing of Hiroshima (3 August 1945) and Nagasaki (9 August 1945). v.p., v.d. Together approximately 1800 pages, various sizes, condition varies. Of the total, approximately 520 items are signed singly or jointly by the Enola Gay crew: Pilot Paul W. Tibbets, Navigator Theodore S. ("Dutch") van Kirk, co-pilot Captain Robert A. Lewis Tail-gunner George R. Caron (35 signed copies of a pamphlet account Hiroshima, I Saw it First ), Major Thomas Ferebee, Charles Sweeney Bock's Car pilot) and others. Photographs show the crews, the aircraft, the bombing as seen from the aircraft and the devastation wreaked on the target cities. Together approximately 1300 items .
