WRANGHAM, Francis (1769-1842). The English Portion of the Library of the Ven. Francis Wrangham...Archdeacon of Cleveland . Malton: Privately Printed by R. Smithson, 1826. 8 o (214 x 132 mm). Late 19th-century calf gilt, edges gilt (front hinge cracked). Limited to 70 copies, Wrangham compiled the catalogue himself, with his much amplified commentaries on many of the books. The poet and theologian, Francis Wrangham was a bibliophile with a passion for unpublished works, books printed in very limited editions or on colored paper. Before his death he gave his collection of 10,000 pamphlets bound in 996 volumes to Trinity College, Cambridge.
