An original WWII Second World War Hong Kong Union Jack / Flag, by repute removed from the navy base in Hong Kong - HMS Tamar - by the Royal Engineers who were stationed there at the time. . The flag of usual form, with wind damage to one end and various holes from use. The seam retaining the original brass hoops. Rare piece of history. Measures approx; 90x135cm Provenance (told by vendor): I was always told the flag was flown at the navy base in Hong Kong HMS Tamar where the royal engineers were stationed, with around 50 royal marines. The flag was actually taken down by the royal engineers and was purchased a very long time ago by my great uncle Lesie in the 1970s when we was working in Dorset, of all places. He was a watchmaker and he took the flag in as part of payment for some watch work he did.
