Three engraved titles (the first supplied in facsimile), 19 double-page maps including a double-hemisphere world map (Shirley 207) after Rumold Mercator and 18 maps of the Americas. (Lacks four leaves: title [supplied in facsimile], text leaves S4 and final two leaves, f6 in part three with marginal stain, some browning and soiling.) Later vellum over pasteboard (rebacked, covers bowed). Second edition in French. Sabin does not call for the 4 half-page maps of Japan, India, China and the Philippines present in the 1605 edition (see previous lot), though they are in Borba de Moraes and JCB.
