Yankee Stadium Organist Eddie Layton's 1999 New York Yankees World Series Ring Featuring 74 round and 26 baguette & square diamonds in the encrusted "NY" logo and face (2.90 total karats), this 14 karat stamped Balfour gold ring was given to Eddie Layton in recognition of the New York Yankees 25th world championship. One side of the band shows the Yankee logo above a Yankee Stadium facade type design, and reads "25th World Championship". The other side is engraved "Layton" above an image of the World Series trophy and words "25th," "Tradition." Accompanied by original wooden presentation box with a glass etched face reading "New York Yankees", and "1999 World Champions." The 1999 season featured the Yankees at their peak of dominance, in the middle of a three straight World Championships. While the Braves had a better regular season record (103-59, as opposed to the Yankees 98-64), the defending champion Bombers swept the Braves in four seemingly effortless contests. The closest the Braves came was in Game 3 and journeyman Chad Curtis stomped out any hope with a walk-off homer in the 10th inning. Taking over from John Wetteland, Series MVP Mariano Rivera established himself as the best reliever in the major leagues, saving three of the four games. After years of close misses with the Red Sox and Blue Jays, Roger Clemens got his first ring. The 1999 New York Yankees became the first team to win the World Series in consecutive sweeps since the 1938-1939 Yankees. It was also the first sweep by a team without home-field advantage since 1966 when Baltimore swept the Dodgers. The Yankees' 11-1 postseason record was the best ever, tied by the Chicago White Sox in 2005. Measurements: Size 10. Condition: Overall excellent condition, minor wear from use.
