(Modern & Contemporary Middle Eastern & North African Art, 22nd April 2021) YOUSEF AHMAD JAHA (SAUDI, B. 1954) YOUSEF AHMAD JAHA (SAUDI, B. 1954) Untitled oil on canvas signed in Arabic and dated 16 (lower left) 50 x 50 cm (19 2/3 x 19 2/3 in) PROVENANCE Private collection, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, acquired from the artist's studio Yousef Ahmad Jaha was born in Makkah and holds a BA degree in Art Education (1983) from Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah. Jaha held his first solo exhibition in Roshan Gallery in Jeddah in 1987. He took part in many exhibitions held by The Saudi Arabian Society of Culture and arts, and has participated in many international exhibitions such as: The Arab Islamic Contemporary Art Exhibition in Turkey 1993 and Edge of Arabia Exhibition in London 2008. Using a multiplicity of calm colours, Jaha merges the external and inner nature of the human being, to form a spiritual combination between the elements of nature (dust, water, fire and air) and psychology.
