The rotary-engined Norton Classic was essentially a civilian version of the Interpol II. Designated P43, it was powered by an air-cooled 588cc engine, developing 79bhp at 9,000rpm and driving through a five-speed gearbox with Duplex chain transmission. The limited edition model is variously quoted at 101 examples through to 110 being built and this particular example is numbered 86 of that series. It has had just one owner from new and has covered just 6,800 miles. Its careful owner attended the Norton mechanics training course for this model and all Norton Factory Service Releases come with it, all advised modifications having been carried out at the factory including rear chain, clutch, suspension, etc. A comprehensive file recording this work comes with the bike. Also offered with it is the Classic Certificate, original handbook, owner’s manual in original folder, replacement parts catalogue, original Classic key ring, Norton Classic logbook, Norton fila-fax, original tool kit, some spares, etc. The bike has been kept in a heated garage and has been fully serviced by its mechanic owner on its anniversary each August from new, including this year. It is superbly presented in silver livery and described by its enthusiast vendor as being ‘as new’ in all areas. It comes with an Isle of Man logbook and road fund licence. Only advancing years have influenced the reluctant sale of this machine.
