Lot of over 70 publications, offprints, transcripts, photographs, clippings and letters, almost all ±1910-1940, probably all collected/ written by/ to J.W. SMOLDERS, member of the Van Eeden Genootschap. = Interesting collection containing i.a. various original photographs (several in duplicate) relating to Walden, several manuscripts concerning Walden, a few manuscript plans of Walden and indexes on the works of Van Eeden. The photographs (all 17x23,5 cm.), contained in 3 orig. envelopes of the firm "Foto-Kino J. Strik Bussum", were probably printed from the original negatives by photographer J. Strik and show 1) horsedrawn carriages with fruit and vegetables from the land with 5 members of Walden community; the carriages have a wooden sign stating "Walden's Fruit en Groenten"; 2) 16 members of Walden community standing in front of several partly horse-drawn carriages with bread baskets and baker's carts with signs of "Bakkerij Walden" and "Brood en beschuitbakkerij Walden" up front; 3) two identical photographs of all 46 (?) members of Walden (incl. Frederik van Eeden) in front of Villa Cruysbergen; 4) three copies of a portrait of Frederik van Eeden looking at the camera over his left shoulder; 5) two copies of a portrait of Frederik van Eeden standing in front of a wooden building looking frontally into the camera; 6) a photograph of the "Werkhut" at Walden. Among the manuscripts a plan of Walden in (col.) pencil with legend should be mentioned (monogrammed J.W.S. [J.W. Smolders], 19,5x31 cm.) and a manuscript by J.W. SMOLDERS titled "Enkele paperassen betrekking hebbende op de laatste jaren van Walden en de ineenstorting" ((29)p., pen and ink, w. tipped-in "Uittreksel uit het kadastrale plan der gemeente Bussum Sectie C (...)" showing a plan of Walden, and 2 loosely inserted plans in pencil of the "Werkhut op Walden" (with legend below) and of Walden with legend and annotations).
