A 17th-century carved boxwood spectacles case shaped in the form of a pair of 'Nuremberg' nose spectacles, the obverse carved with three figures, a monk with martyr's palm to the left, Jesus to the centre and a soldier (St. George?) to the right, the reverse with a monk looking towards the sun on the left, a haloed monk to the centre and to the right St Francis[?] holding up three fingers, representing the three vocational rules of the order. 3½in.
